RENATE – E-VIOLIN

Renate graduated Cum Laude from the University of Stellenbosch’s distinguished Conservatoire, majoring in Violin Performance. She has collaborated with popular bands such as Flat Stanley, Romanz, Bala Brothers, Lira, Chianosky and more.  She’s performed in a variety of cabaret productions, featured in a handful of local music videos, and has been involved in recording projects with many local producers including Riaan Steyn, Helmut Meijer, Johan Oberholzer and Mauritz Lotz. As electric violinist she formed part of the SAMA award-winning instrumental group, Sterling EQ, from 2010 to 2013 and was recently approached by Sony NOSTALGIE to become part of a new band as violinist and vocalist.

CAROL - E-CELLIST

South Africa’s leading electric cellist, Carol Thorns has been performing locally and internationally for over a decade. Armed with her striking red cello, she was awarded a 4-star rating for her audio-visual show ‘Red Cello Electrified’ at the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe, the largest arts festival in the world. Her popular solo cello album Fireflies In The Rain was nominated for Best Instrumental Album 2010 at the South African Music Awards.

The group has performed at numerous high profile events and international events, including concerts (Miss SA 2010, Jazzathon, Jazz on the Rocks, Home For All, Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Woman of the Year, Nederburg Concert Series, Paul Cluver Forest Amphitheatre), fashion shows (Cape Town Fashion Week, Durban Fashion Week), sports events (J&B; Met, Durban July) launch parties and government events. Internationally CODA has performed in the Seychelles (New Year 2006, October 2010), Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls (March 2006), Dubai (May 2007, April 2008), Luanda Angola (Dec 2011)
