Jaryd Pillay

Fresh-faced Jaryd Pillay introduced his charm offensive as a comedian to a loving crowd in Cape Town at the age of 18, and hasn't looked back since. The young entertainer narrates his unique life with flare and unbridled confidence, taking on wacky experiences that seem surreal to many and hilarious to all. Jaryd has been making waves on stages across Cape Town as well as the country, performing at vast events such as Rocking the Daisies 2014, Rocking the Daisies 2016, Savanna Newcomers Showcase at the Soweto Theatre in 2015 and The Weekender Festival 2016 in Arniston. In 2015 he was awarded 1st place in the “Hashtag That’s Funny Comedy Showdown” and 2016 was a finalist in the “Premium Comedy Joke Slam” as well a finalist in “Comedy Central’s Grab the Mic” competition.

Hosting events and functions since the young age of 17, Jaryd is deeply rooted as a Master of Ceremonies, where having the background in humor allows him to find the perfect balance between the formality of emceeing and comedy. He has hosted events such as the Fairmont Festival (main stage) 2013, Newlands Cricket Club Awards Evening 2014, Builder’s Warehouse End of Year Function 2014 and is currently a resident emcee at Grand West Casino and Entertainment World since 2015.
