Belly Dancers

BELLY DANCE

This is a dance form that has its routes in the ancient folkloric dances of the Middle East. It was performed during wedding celebrations, initiatory rites, to prepare the body for childbirth and at social gatherings.

Belly dancing adds colour and spice to any occasion and encourages your guests to get up and dance themselves. It was considered good luck to have a belly dancer at your wedding and after the performance the bride and groom place their hands on the dancers stomach as a blessing.

It is quite popular to have a belly dance workshop at the bridal shower where the bride-to-be can learn a few movements and a small routine to perform on her honeymoon; a coin belt is given to the bride as a gift on completion of the workshop.
