John Russel

John performs as a solo guitarist, or with a duo, trio or quartet depending on the client’s request.  His music is suitable for any occasion and his professional approach to jazz standards on the guitar is the perfect background for corporate functions and events, hotels and pre- dinner drinks.

John also teams up with other musicians and is able to offer his solo performance or a duo, trio or quartet.

• DUO:
  Comprises of John on guitar, and a fabulous saxophonist who also plays flute and clarinet.
• TRIO:
  John on guitar, saxophonist and double bass / electric bass
• QUARTET:
  John on guitar, saxophonist, double bass / electric bass and drums.

John Russell started playing guitar at the age of thirteen. After exploring many different musical styles he immersed himself in the study of Jazz guitar under the mentorship of Jazz guitarist Alvin Dyers.
John has performed with some of South Africa's finest musicians such as Errol Dyers, Basil Moses, Lionel Beukes, the late Nick le Roux, Kevin Gibson, Darryl Andrews, and the Cape Town Jazz Orchestra.
Venues that John has performed at include The Green Dolphin, The Lanzerac, Table Bay Hotel, Cape Grace Hotel, Erinvale Estate, Diemersfontein Estate, The Radisson, The Mount Nelson, Morgenhof Estate, Nooitgedacht Estate, Blaauwklippen Estate and others.
