DJ Lil Dave

Dave Cohen has been in entertainment for over 18 years, involved in a wide spectrum of the industry from concert and event planning, artiste/deejay agency and management with 5fm.

Dave has worked and deejayed alongside many of South Africa’s top Entertainers, Comedians and Bands, in both the nightclub and corporate function environment.  He has also been used as Emcee for various events and promotions.

Originally Dave started off in the Hotel Industry as a Food and Beverage Manager with Holiday Inn, Protea Hotels, Sun International and Hilton Hotels (UK) before finally returning to South Africa and getting involved in the heart of the Entertainment Industry.  This knowledge was the sound basis for him understanding the delicate balance of quality service and entertainment, both are important elements to a successful event or function.

Dave still regularly performs in nightclubs and this allows him to keep on the pulse of current music trends in South Africa, not forgetting the rich balance of varied cultures in our country.  This means a good mix of Golden Oldies, Commercial Pop Hits, Local Afrikaans and Kwaito is an essential element to catering for all the ages and music tastes in our society.

Dave has recently returned to Johannesburg after running and deejaying in two Night Clubs at Sun City for over 6 years.  During that time he has performed at over 250 corporate functions.

Some of the highlights include:-

• Performing in the Superbowl for the build up function to the 2010 World Cup
• Deejaying for International Star Kelly Rowland at her after party
• Christmas functions for the last two years for the South African Reserve Bank
• Three consecutive years for the annual KFC function
• DRM mining Awards dinner at Gallagher Estates
• Five years at the Nedbank Golf Challenge annual Press Dinner

Other past corporate clients include, Standard Bank, FNB, Nedbank, MTN, Vodacom, Mugg & Bean and many other companies too numerous to list.

It is essential to remember that music can make or break a function and Dave prides himself on being able to read a crowd and provide a suitable balance of music and entertainment to create a memorable occasion.
