MadoJazz

This is an ensemble where Madosini collaborates with Jazz musicians to extend her music into the realm of Jazz. Madosini works with famous musicians Pedro Espi-Sanchis (the Musicman), Hilton Schilder and Jonny Blundell and many musicians overseas. She has played all over the world and last year performed with Gilberto Gill (the famous musician who was minister of culture for Brazil some years ago).

Latozi Mpahlele, better known as Madosini, was born in the Eastern Cape Province.

She is considered one of South Africa’s cultural treasures and has, since she was recorded for the first time in the late 1970 become famous as a player of the Uhadi and Umrhube musical bows and the Isitolotolo.

Madosini plays in the traditional musical styles of the Amampondo but composes her own songs and music and has over the years participated in many a festival both in SA and overseas.
